How to keep a real TBR from BookTok
BookTok does not recommend books one at a time. It is five titles in a fifteen-second video, a stack shown spine-out, an annotated page flashed just long enough to make you feel something. You favorite the video. Your TBR does not grow by five books; your Favorites grows by one more video you will never reopen.
A TBR made of videos is not a TBR. Here is how to turn the scroll into an actual list of books.
Why your Favorites folder is not a TBR
A to-be-read list is useful when you are standing in a bookstore or picking your next read at midnight. In both moments you need titles and covers, not a folder of videos you have to rewatch with the sound on to remember why you saved them.
BookTok makes it worse in a specific way: the cover you saw might not be the edition you can buy, titles in the romantasy wave all sound alike, and the video that made you cry gets taken down. The book is the durable thing. Keep the book.
